I try to be honest and positive. My Christian faith is an important background factor. I hate rating low but have a system that determines how I grade.

I will organize it by first thoughts, then if the genre and rating is appropriate, what I liked, improvements, and my final opinion.

Please do not ask me to review your item if you do not want an honest response. I tend to be blunt, but if I can't say anything nice or don't understand your piece, I won't review it. I believe in the peanut butter sardine sandwich approach to critiquing work...something good, something bad, more good.

I do my best to give an honest assessment of what I'm reading, I don't nit pick on spelling and grammar but will mention something that is glaring and should be pointed out.

Not sure I have a style....I learn as much from you as you from me. I will point our typos, grammatical things if I see them. I love poetry and when it comes to stories, please nothing "dark"....not my thing.

I am open and honest. I will tell you what I thought of your character development, your storyline, how it flows, and if needed suggest grammar or word change (which you can take or leave)

I am a slushpile reader for a Science Fiction and Fantasy magazine. I have a lot of review and critique experience, and love to celebrate what works in a story. If I feel confused or unsure about parts of a story I am usually able to explain why I think it didn't quite work. If I am able to think of some ideas to explore which might help to improve or clarify things for the reader, I share them in a way that I feel is productive and helpful.

I like to go in depth on how I felt whilst reading it. I'll point out where I was tripped out of my flow by sentence structure or oddity. What confuses me. What intrigues me. Examples can be seen in my recent reviews. Happy to review privately on request. Default will be public.

I will give the kind of review that I wish people gave me: rather detailed with emphasis on areas that need growth and areas that are pretty good already. And I'll review pretty much anything, whether a poem or an entire novel or anything in between. Admittedly, though, I do tend to be absent-minded, so it does happen that you might have to resend me the review request, but I promise I'll get around to it eventually.

I look for how well the story or poem flows and if there are things out of place. I also check for grammar and spelling errors.

I like a review that makes me edit, even if it bothers me or offends me. So I look at your piece with, "What would I change to make this better and why?" And I write down most of what I think... the limit being how much you paid, more than how much you can handle! And of course there's no guarantee that my advice won't make it worse. Well, except the long list of bestseller credits-- oh, I haven't published them yet. But feel free to request a refund if I really like your piece. It's happened, sometimes I'm in too good of a mood and I think your work is perfect. If it was, you'd be submitting it for a royalty advance... praise is nice but it's like Chinese food, you need more in an hour. Whereas critique sticks to your ribs...

Brutally honest, but fair. I will give my impressions of the main points: Plot, character, setting, dialog. Then I will get into grammar, spelling, and typos. I will tell you what works, and what doesn't. As far as the star ratings go, I don't rely on them too much, but use them as a measure of an item's relative merit. Take it for what it's worth. Bottom line, my goal is to help the author improve their work.
